my first attempt to making karipap
So since raya(Eid) is coming...i decided to give my boss and colleagues a little taste of malaysian food...
Cooking rendang or other typical Raya food is not an option....because i don't think i'll be able to find the right ingredients for it....plus i don't think they'll be able to eat it...Italians have small tolerance when it comes to food ....
i decided to make karipap pusing to match one local italian (napoleatan) snack called sfogliatella...
the inner part of sfogliatella is normally something sweet....sweet cheese etc...paling tak pun they will put spinach and ricotta cheese in it.....
of course karipap is not sweet....it'll be nice to surprise them with that....

So...cut the story short .....picture speaks louder than words....

so brace yourself.....here it comes......

the inti.....cost me ages to cut those potatoes into small cubes....

and my first official karipap ever made

as much as picture speaks louder than words....un-shown pictures speaks an
infinite possibilities...

what ever happened to the karipap after it was cooked?

Gladiator
Today i was having a conversation with a friend back home
We were talking about money...our expenditure...traveling funds...and the likes
so I told her to keep track on her savings..especially the one for her euro trip early next year (of course for selfish reason la kan...i want people to come here to see me ..;) )

me : weh...ko make sure saving to tak kacau...jangan nak shopping je
her : ehh shopping tetap shopping la...save pun save jugak
her : weh..beli la gladiator...lawa
me : gladiator?... ape tu?...sejenis kereta ke?...
(of course it sounded like a car ..macam macho2 and bold gitu)
her : bukan la....gladiator tu macam sandals la....
me : kejap kejap aku google.....
(at this point i really thought she was joking...who would name a genre of shoes after "gladiator"??)

allora ( translated as..."so" in Italian)....thanks to google images...i found this

and this ....
and this...
me : ieee ape ni...buruknye!...semak aku tengok..
her : sekarang fashion la....bile pakai lawa.....
me : tak pernah pulak aku tengok orang pakai kat sini....
her : ramai la....maybe your fashion sense dah malfunction kot
(ermmm....that might be true...)
(or just maybe it has skipped my sight...i mean..people's feet are definitely not my thing....i would look at those lean tight muscles on the chest of those hot italian hunks and... drool, or the curves of those double-meat that's hanging on a girl's chest and bottoms - for envious observation purposes laa!!...but not kaki orang....)
me : but now autumn...orang tak pakai dah kot mcm ni....maybe next summer
(then i remembered ...)
me : oh baru teringat....aku ade kasut macam ni...tp tak la tinggi mcm tu....itu pun aku beli ad
hoc kat H&M sebab kaki aku melecet kat shopping mall...
(plus it's only around 9 euros)...

It looks something like this

me : tapi aku sangat rimas bende ikat kat atas tu...so balik rumah aku gunting yang atas...tinggal
yang bawah je...so jadi la macam "normal" sandals
(truth is... my betis tu kembang ...so of course that little thing causes me discomforts due
to it's tightness)
her : cheh

So out of the conversation...
although reluctant to believe that people would actually wear it...
but then again.....i remembered when Crocs first came out.....

To my humour ...i thought to myself ...here it comes..."The Revenge of But Getah"
but soon enough... when i walk around in the city...i see vibrance on the streets ....in all sorts of different bright colours that can make an impotence out of a man...

anyway....i got a little bit curious.....do gladiators really wear those kind of shoes(something similar) back in the days??...so i browsed through my Rome pictures and stumbled upon ....

and this ....

ouh....that's my abah....ready to decapitate that poor Roman Gladiator....go dad!

Now i'm beginning to contemplate on who's more creative and imaginative....the Chanel Designer or the Romans?

2 years....
selesai menjalankan tahlil......buat sedekah arwah mak.....
sedar tak sedar she's been gone for exactly 2 years tommorow......
raya makin dekat....it's always devastating knowing that i'll be celebrating it without a mom...furthermore i'm far away from home....it's harder thinking that my dad will be celebrating it without mom..and without me ....i feel sorry for him...
sometimes i wonder what would it be like if she's still around....with the exact condition now....
me and my current accomplishment ....would she be proud or would she be angry at me for leaving home?.....i'm imagining that she's at home right now......growing old with my dad......with their smiles and laughters
i really miss her...

Ramadhan...in Italy
My first puasa alone...and away from home....
back then i used to think of what to eat when it's time to 'buka' the whole time i was fasting...
now...it's just ..ok..puasa..balik nanti buka...i couldn't picture a single food in my mind that i crave for...

ouh well..maybe it's better....

but it's a little challenging when the digital clock on my notebook is showing 1.15 pm ...and everyone back home keeps wishing me selamat berbuka puasa ..whereas my time will only be 6 hours from then on.....:)

anyway..it's an experience....for what it's worth....to family and friends and all muslims that are celebrating...

Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan...
